The busiest of these airports is Dublin and its controllers are responsible for an airspace block of almost 6,000 square nautical miles, the vertical limit of which is flight level 240 (24,000ft approx).

StatisticsIn 2022, Irish air traffic controllers safely handled over 1,000,000 flights through Irish airspace. From January to March 2022, Dublin terminal safely handled nearly 40,000 flights. Over the same time period, Shannon terminal operated over 3,153 flights and Cork Terminal handled 2,701. All figures represent substantial increases on the same time period in 2021. In February 2023 alone, 15,703 flights across 34 scheduled airlines operated out of Dublin Airport. London Heathrow was the most popular destination followed by Spain, France, Germany and the United States. 80% of these flights departed on time. |
