Week 50 traffic

17 January 2024

For week 50, on a rolling seven-day average basis, Shannon area control, who look after flights that transit Irish airspace but do not land, handled 8,574 movements, an increase of 11.99% compared to the same time period in 2022 and 98.80% for the YTD compared to 2019. 

Dublin area control operated 4,312 movements, an increase of 8.48% compared to the same time period in 2022 and 98.80% for the YTD versus 2019. 

Our radio officers in our North Atlantic Communications centre handled 9,249 flights, an increase of 7.09% compared to 2022 and 102.61% for the YTD versus 2019.

In regards to terminal traffic (flights that both takeoff and land at an airport), Cork handled 358 movements, an increase of 12.93% compared to 2022 and 88.46% for the YTD versus 2019. Dublin handled 4,163 flights, an increase of 7.35% compared to the same time period in 2022 and 101.22% for the YTD vs 2019. Shannon handled 385, a reduction of 1.53% compared to 2022 and 105.24% of 2019 for the year to date.
